Quick Answers

Yes. The Last Sector is completely free to play. You can register, pick a planet, build your base, and fight other players without spending a cent. Space Energy can be deposited with real money for convenience, but it can also be earned through gameplay. There are no pay-to-win mechanics.
After choosing a hero and a planet during registration, you land on the planet view. Tap any empty hex tile to open the build menu, pick a structure (Dust Extractor, Research Lab, Barracks, Fleet Hangar, etc.), confirm the Space Dust cost, and an idle builder starts work. Fresh accounts have one builder slot; extra slots are unlocked permanently with Space Energy (5,000 / 20,000 / 80,000 SE for slots 2, 3, 4). Most building tiers are gated by your Command Center level, so upgrading the CC opens up the rest of the colony.
Combat is server-resolved PvP. You select units from your trained fleet, pick a target from the galaxy map, and launch a raid. Battles resolve based on army composition, defending unit and Defense Grid stats, and the ships you sent — winners earn trophies, looted resources, and stars (1, 2, or 3 depending on damage dealt). Without a Space Portal you can send up to 25 ships per raid; the Portal lifts that cap.
The game features a player-driven economy. Space Energy (SE) is the premium currency — you can deposit real money or earn it through gameplay. The in-game market lets players list and buy resources for SE. Deposits carry a 5% fee, market trades carry a 5% fee on the seller's payout, and withdrawals carry a 10% fee. Earned SE is spent before deposited SE so your withdrawable balance is preserved as long as possible.
Space Energy (SE) is the premium currency of The Last Sector. You can acquire it in two ways: depositing real money through our payment flow, or earning it through gameplay (PvP loot, mission completions, leaderboard climbs). SE pays for instant build completions, resource market purchases, builder-slot unlocks, in-game store items, and starter packs. The withdrawable portion of your balance can be cashed out subject to the 10% fee.
Clans hold up to 50 players. You can create one (requires building a Clan Base on your planet) or join an existing one from the search list. Members donate resources to each other, chat in real-time, and share a clan trophy total. Clan-vs-clan war mechanics are on the active roadmap; for now, clans focus on cooperation, donations, and shared progression.
During registration, after picking a hero, you choose from six planet biomes: Aridus Prime (rocky desert), Glacius VII (frozen world), Verdania (jungle world), Volcanis (volcanic world), Nebularis (gas giant moon), and Crystallon (crystal formations). Each biome is a cosmetic pick today — the visual theme of your planet view changes, but resource generation and combat are identical regardless of which one you choose. Your planet name and biome stay with the account permanently.
Hero classes are a cosmetic choice today — the eight named heroes (Commander Vael, Engineer Krix, Scholar Eos, Trader Myn, Scout Zara, Warlord Drath, Diplomat Lyra, Sentinel Rho) each have a thematic specialty shown on your profile, but they don't currently grant mechanical bonuses. Mechanical hero perks are tracked on the roadmap; until then, pick the one whose lore appeals to you.
The Last Sector runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend Chrome or Firefox for the best experience. The game uses WebGL for the galaxy map and a real-time tick system for resource generation. No plugins, downloads, or installations required.
